Every three hours this site reads 25 feeds and asks Jev six questions about each new article. Four of them throw things out:
Two of them rank what is left: how interesting it is to a curious reader with no stake in it, and how delightful — beautiful, funny or charming. Anything that trips a filter is dropped; the rest is sorted, and the best six from the last 24 hours are on the front page. On a quiet day there are fewer than six, which is the honest answer rather than a padded one.
The corporate filter is the fussy one. It is told that a thing which exists and does something new is not a business announcement, even when a company made it — so a genuinely new capability stays in and a funding round does not.
